Okay so I’m using National Geographic bedding, I’ve been using this on and off for a while now. But all of a sudden it doesn’t seem to be soaking up urine at all. Is this just me?? I cleaned out Nimmy’s litter box on Saturday, and went to clean it out today and there was a puddle.  I haven’t had this problem before, and normally I clean out his litter box once a week, this time was half a week and it was horrible.

I don’t know how any litter would be absorbent for a week or if that is even healthy ? I clean mine every morning.

Well at that time it was only 4 days. Normally I do wait a week in between cleaning the litter boxes and it’s typically not bad. He’s got

Is there a water bottle positioned over the litter box?

I don’t know what that one is like, but I use recycled paper litter and it seems very absorbent.
Though yes if I leave it too long it will stop absorbing

I personally am not a fan of the National Geographic litter as it doesn’t soak up that much urine. But, has your rabbit been drinking more water than usual ? Because when it is late summer to early fall, my rabbit urinates more as he drinks much more water. So, during that time, I change the litter box every 3-4 days. Also, I use Oxbow small animal bedding and it eliminates the scent of the urine even though the litter is not scented. This particular litter is also paper based.

I used to use back 2 nature rabbit litter and as it is very light and all over cage always he jumps in and out, I bought cat litter tray that clumping one that clumps into hard piece so you can take it out… and they are much cheaper ( I didn’t do it to reduce price, just tried new thing ) … I don’t take pieces out tho, but I change complete litter tray every second day, as he wees and poos a lot, in two days, it’s covered in poop haha…. I could maybe just pick it, I will see today whether it’s easy, but this cat litter is absorbent as well so it’s no smell at all…
