My Bunnie chloe is 3 months old and she finally switched over to timothy and orchard hay recently perfectly.!
I also have a couple questions now that shes getting older …

1 . She’s still on her baby pellets and i was wondering when i should switch her over to veg.?

2 when i put her on veg do i keep her on the pellets or take her completly off them?

Also what veg .. Fruit and forage is safe ?

        Thankyouuuu

          1) I would say she’s about old enough to start SLOWLY transitioning her to veggies. About 1 new veggie a week.

          2) No. Some people do when their buns are adults but you need to really know what to give to keep up proper nutrition. How much pellets does your bun eat? I know a lot of people are still feeding their buns unlimited pellets at this point.

          3) Here’s a whole list of safe fruits/veggies- https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/VeggieList/tabid/144/Default.aspx

^They do have a few things mentioned that you can forage for, like dandelions.

I think Forum Leader Bam knows a lot about what you can forage, so you could always try and PM her with a particular question if she doesn’t reply to your thread.

That’s a great list that Moxie gave you.
You can keep her on baby pellets until she’s approx. 6 months, then switch her to adult pellets. We recommend a small amount of pellets be fed every day since that way you know your bunny is getting the nutrients she needs. If you want to go all hay and veg, it puts rather a heavy work-load (and economic pressure depending on where you live) on you, because you’ll need to supply a vast variety of different greens every day. It just feels safer to feed some pellets.

That said, the mainstay of a healthy bunny diet is hay. Good quality hay has most of what a bunny needs and the fiber is so important to a bunny that it can barely be overstated. 80% of her diet should be hay (you can’t compare directly when you add the weight of daily pellets, hay and vegs since vegs are like 80-90% water and a bunny never should finish all its hay, so you’ll have to make an estimate).

Good starter vegs would be romaine lettuce. Dandelion. Piece of kale. Mint sprig. As Moxie says, go very slow. Suitable treats are slice of apple, tiny slice of banana, half a grape. But not every day, it’s like kids shouldn’t eat candy every day.
