hello. im very, very frustrated with my bunny at the moment.
he hardly ever eats what he is supposed to eat. hay.
why I am really angry is because he ran out of pellets and hay.
so I went and got him more. he was probably very hungry.
so I open the bag of hay and put a pile next to him. he basically ignores it like its his bedding! and of course I open up his pellets bag because its better for him to eat them then nothing at all. and he comes running like he was REALLY hungry and indulges Into the pile.. it is VERY frustrating to see this. the pellets and hay are very expensive for a teenage boy with no job at the moment. so to see this hay wasted like its nothing and only pile up in his cage and be wasted completely really just makes me very mad.
so what tips do you all have for me?
        I tried doing these things
        1.feeding him less pellets
2.putting more hay in the cage.
3.mixing both pellets.and hay so he will eat both.
        4.getting different hay brands

like seriously though. I know the importance of hay in these creatures diets. I want him around for a long time. but him ignoring it costs me all of my money, which I have barely any. and it could in the long run, cost him his life with complications.

        help me please!

alfalfa king timothy hay o’s boos favourite
then readigrass is supposed to be great for the fussy ones.
green oat hay is supposed to be tasty too I get the one by burns

or oxbow but that’s very expensive

they are the only 4 mine will eat
          good luck

baby buns don’t like hay as much as when they get older.
they are like humans in a way their taste changes?

Was he eating his hay originally? Try removing pellets from his diet for awhile, and feed less veggies. He’ll be hungry and the only food there is the hay. Oat hay is a good type of hay for bunnies too. If he’s so addicted to pellets, its probably because he likes
Pellets more than the hay. So try to not give him pellets for a few days and see if he eats any hay

thanks all of you for the help. I have a question about not giving him pellets for a few days.. I fear he will become hungry and just die of hunger. he seems to completely ignore it. but I will try!

Yes but you should increase ethem slowly and preferably reduce them slowly as they can get tummy problems you dont. Buns tumms don’t cope with quick change and then he will eat more hay gradually too and not risk going very hungry.
Rabbits should always eat if they don’t they can get GI stasis which can kill buns
If bun doesn’t eat or poo in 12 hours id take him to a vet

I put a large tuppaware where my bun sits most and when she’s bored she eats while she chills
