Hi everyone, we are currently thinking about getting Jeremy a wife, but i am very unsure on the idea. He is being neutered this week, and i know we have to wait a month after that. I have two major questions! 1: At the moment Jeremy has the run of an X pen in our dining room. Ideally when bonding is done, i want them both to live there, would that be possible? ( I know i need temporary accommodation for the bonding process) 2: There aren’t any bunny shelters near me at all, but there is a pet shop that sells rabbits.      (I know it is better to adopt if possible but that wasn’t an option for us!) They have some gorgeous girl bunnies, and i wondered if i can still bond them if i don’t let him pick his own date? (i can’t think how we could do that in a shop?) Also if she is a much younger rabbit than him, so too young to spay, do we have to wait until we have spayed her +1 month before bonding? or will it not matter as much since she will be a lot younger?

        thanks for any help

Have you tried contacting any local vets, the blue cross and also pets at home, to see if they have an abandoned bunny?

Our local pets at home quite regularly have a stray/unwanted rabbit left with them, as do the blue cross. And I know our girls vet is sometimes involved in finding bunnies new homes too. Might at least be worth a few phone calls?

If you bond before spaying you will have to keep her away when she gets spayed and when shes healing , so they will miss eachother. Its best to spay her ,wait a month or so then start the bonding process!

Too young and the bond might not stick….. Their personalities can change when they start to become “teenagers” Also just an FYI 99% of all pet store buns come from horrible puppy mill like conditions… they are most likely in-bred which leads to health problems later on. Another HUGE issue are buns being sold while sick with Pasteurellosis it spreads much like kennel cough and is highly contagious. Most pet stores don’t really know what to look for and they keep all the young buns together so they can all spread it your beloved Jeremy. I was ignorant when I bought Miss Lloyd and I promise you that I was a lucky one- her vet said he sees more rabbit deaths from pet store buns than anywhere else. Good luck in finding his forever friend!!! XX

We have found an abandoned mini lop girl at our nearest shelter. She is quite young so they will need to be separate until she has been spayed as Jeremy has now been neutered. But they are having a bunny date Saturday to see how it goes! FINGERS CROSSED!

First meeting went so good they licked each other through the bars for ages. We are going to get her and start to bond them
