So today I was checking up on toby, and it seems like the corner of his eye has a pinkish/red color to it. It’s only on one eye, and it’s just in the corner. his eye doesn’t seem runny, and he doesn’t seem depressed. At all. He’s been playing, sleeping, and eating like he does any other normal day but his eye just does not seem right. He has a little eye discharge, like eye boogers. A small amount. I know the hay I ordered him was a tad dusty but he hasn’t really been sneezing. Could the hay in the dust have anything to do with this??? What could be wrong with his eye?? Please help.

It could definitely just be dust or a bit of hay that got in there and irritated it. I’d keep an eye on it, if you can’t see any discharge or debris in it it’s likely not worth a trip to the vet just yet. Just make sure he doesn’t scratch it too much. If it seems to cause him discomfort, starts oozing out anything or if you can see something that shouldn’t be in an eye in there, I’d take him to the vet pronto.

I agree, rabbits sometimes do get a little piece of hay or hay-dust in their eye and it will cause irritation. You can rinse the eye with human eye wash (saline). Then observe it. If it doesn’t get better in a day or so, or if it gets worse, you can call your vet. If you wipe the eyes, don’t use the same wipe for both eyes since if it is sth bacterial, it can be transferred to the healthy eye.
