Hi all, unfortunately my baby has got quite incontinent due to age and illness. I’m wondering if anyone has any miracle tips for getting pee stains and blood out of the carpet? I have tried so many different stain remover sprays but unfortunately the stains keep showing once the area has dried. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried a solution of oxi/oxy stuff that is meant to add to a load of washing. I find that very effective, and supermarket own brand is just as good as the branded ones. They are aimed at organic substances, which includes urine and blood.

Dissolve some in warm water, wash the area, then wash with clean warm water, works nicely. Works best on fresh messes, but might still do something for old ones. Every so often, I make a very dilute solution and stick it in my Vax, and wash the whole carpet, then go over a second time with warm clean water.

Thank you!!! I have not tried that but will definitely give it a go. I may even ask to borrow my mums Vax and give the whole carpet a run over. Thanks

Soak the area with a 50 50 water and vinegar solution. Put a towel over the area and cover with something heavy. Let it sit over night. It will be totally gone.

I use plain white vinegar for urine normally, but occasionally have used nature’s miracle for bad deep urine stains (the Binky Bunny shop carries it BTW.)  Specifically for blood stains, hydrogen peroxide will remove them.

                  Salt works for blood.
I have used vinegar and soda bicarb (separately) for pee, but the problem with pee is that carpet is intricate. Once the pee gets through the carpet, it’s in the padded under-layer, which you cant’ get to. Once a year I rent a rug-doctor for my carpets. I think it’s the only way at getting to the under-layer. Coz the vinegar might work fine for the carpet you can see and reach – but once you have poured it down – how else do you suck up the vinegar/pee mix?
I eventually plan on removing all my carpet – and going with sealed hardwood or vinyl flooring. For this exact reason. Carpet is difficult to clean.

I’ve just vinegared and baking powdered (here’s to hoping the additional stuff in it doesn’t mess it up!) my carpet. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I’m going to borrow my family’s rug doctor, but they can’t get it here until at least November and the smell is heinous. Just need something to reduce the smell for the next couple of months.

Check out the local rentals. I rent the rug doctor for $25 from my local grocery store. If you want odor control, you could try scented baking soda. I’m not a fan of chemical scents though. I’d try baking soda one day, vinegar the nest. I’v read that the combo turns into a salt compound and negates the effects of each. Not sure how true that is as far as science goes. It’s worth the research. Do you have a shop vac? You could use that with hot water, just like a rug doctor. USe the strongest shopvac you can get hold of.
