Sorry for questions (have posted in a few areas)

My 2 buns have unlimited access to hay. They have Timothy Hay with Carrot and Apple. I think they got bored of plain hay as most of it ended up on the floor. So they have this as much as they like throughout the day.

They also have a handful of fruity nuggets between them morning and night. Is this enough?? I have no idea what they weigh .. I tried on my digital scales and they were too light to register for it to switch on!!!

I do give my bun as hes about 16-17 weeks old he has hay every day ( quite a lot of it ) and handfull of nuggets and two carrots amnd sometimes I put treat there…. and he eats all this (except all hay ) within 8 hours and after I come back I give him same thing and if he still has hay I don’t give him anymore…. and I don’t know how much they should have, this is just what I do and he is happy if I eat an apple or almonds I give him some and he is loving almonds or I do it if he’s nibbling on something he shouldn’t lol

Unfortunately, most food allowances are made based on the weight of the rabbit.

What sort of fruity nuggets do they have? It’s best for rabbits to have nuggets which are uniform in size and colour and a fibre content of at least 18%. If the rabbit is under 6 months, they can be fed pellets with a protein content of 16%, but if they are 6+ months the protein content should be between 12-% and 14%.

One way to weigh them could be to hold them while on the scale and subtract that weight from your own weight.

Alternatively, provided they don’t refuse to eat hay you can give rabbits under 6 months unlimited pellets.

            Hope this helps.

Mine LOVE apples .. so I give them a slice each .. not really sure on how much fruits and veggies to give on top of pellets and hay. I don’t want to over feed them!!  They love carrots  .. but I limit this as read they are quite sugary??  They love cucumber also. What else can I give them .. cherry tomatoes ok??  Can they have fresh broccoli?? But not the stalks??

http://www.molevalleyfarmers.com/mvf/store/products/country-value-fruity-nuggets-for-rabbits-10kg This is what they have. This is what they were given before we had them, I wanted to keep them on the same as read something about tummy upset??

They go crazy mad for these pellets .. they are like a pair of little puppies when they see that bowl coming ,, hopping around like crazy and up on their back legs almost begging for that bowl to hurry up!! So I think if I gave them unlimited nuggets they would forget the hay.

Ok I did the scales .. Bonnie (the white one) I will only do the LB side of weight lol .. the LB’s it registered for me was 9 1/4 .. with her it then went to 11 and a half. With Bella (the brown one) 9 1/4 for me LB’s and then again went to 11 and a half with her .. this I am not so sure as she does not feel as heavy as Bonnie .. or look as big. I think she could be half a LB – a LB lighter than Bonnie.
