I have an x-pen for the bunny I will be getting late October early November. My house has hard wood, but i need to have a flooring in the x-pen. The bunny will be a baby so it could pee on the floor, what is some suggestions on what to use for the flooring under my x-pen.

You could maybe just buy a cheap carpet from walmart or use fleece blankets. If you go for the carpet use something that’s not too fluffy, so your bunny doesn’t chew on it too much.

I bought a 4 by 7ft piece of Polywall from Home Depot for $20 and it’s absolutely great. It’s basically a layer of white textured plastic, and it’s waterproof and the label says it’s antibacterial. It’s white so you can spot “accidents” easily for cleaning, and you can cut down to size with regular scissors. You also need a couple mats or blankets for traction. My bunny has 4 Jute mats that are 14in x 14in. Seagrass is also a good option. She also has 2 fleece blankets, but these may not be the best thing to buy before you’ve met the bunny because he or she could be a big chewer. The grass mats are fine to chew as long as they’re all natural, but too much fleece could be bad. An occasional nibble shouldn’t be a problem.

Basically, a waterproof surface with a top layer of something for traction is what you want. Good luck!

I bought office chair mats. Very easy to clean, can find ones for hard floors or carpeting. Not the cheapest alternative, but I have found worth the money.

I previously used a recycled billboard vinyl. They are 14 ft by 48 ft. I would cut it to size to fit under my rabbit’s pen. It is easy to wipe clean and sweep. My rabbit does not like walking on any kind of wood or tile floor which made it difficult to find flooring since she likes to only walk on carpet but carpet is not easy to clean. Just an FYI, if you live near a billboard company, these vinyls usually sell for about $25 and have a ton of uses.

Now I use an outdoor rug made with plastic type fibers that I found at TJ Maxx for $15. It works just as well but it has a design that I think looks a little “cuter” than the vinyl.

I have an 8 week old baby that I got at 5 weeks and she pees in the litter box. It really doesn’t take them long to figure it out I have hardwood floor and I just used an old sheet and a fleece blanket on top with no issues

I might try some small carpets tho

I’ve got a free cycled rug on one side and covering the entire carpet under the pen are vinyl tiles. I picked two sets from homebase basics because they were the most grippy.

I realised in hindsight that they don’t quite cover all my 96x96cm pen without bits poking out of the edge (we’ve got no room to fit it in).

I really thought it would be sold in a roll which I could just lay out flat.

I’m going to get some cheap wood and adhere the tiles to it for protection.

I have a cheap, $20 rug from Wal-Mart under both of mine…neither one of my buns are big fabric chewers, so I’ve never had an issue with them. And they’re small enough that I can just toss them in the washer if I need to.

I got a plastic floor mat used for office chairs for our homemade cage. I also have some old carpet in her cage for some variety. She never had an issue with just the plastic then when I gave her the carpet she decided it was a good idea to sleep on that. I like the plastic because it is so easy to clean, just sweep it. The little piece of carpet isn’t to bad either. It is hard to vacuum so I usually just give it a good shake outside.
