        Hi,

I’m fostering 3-3.5 weeks old orphaned baby bunny. He stopped drinking KMR formula ~2 days ago.
He’s eating hay, drinking water and I give him Burgess Excel pellets. He can eat about 10g in 12 hours.
He’s feeling well, binking, eating, drinking and pooping normally.

I think he could eat about 15-20g of Burgess Excel pellets per day, but I’m not sure if he should be given that much.
Should I give him only a specific amount of pellets, or give him as much as he wants?

        Thank you in advance!

Are they the junior bunny pellets? Baby buns should have unlimited pellets and hay

No, they are for adults. These are pellets I order from UK to my two adult bunnies, because we don’t have rabbit pellets in country. These are pellets I feed: http://www.burgesspetcare.com/product/adult-rabbit-nuggets/
            Protein: 13%, Fibre: 19%.

I am worried because he is about 3.5 weeks old and should still have mom’s milk and maybe too much pellets can be harmful for him?

Well just from my knowledge, unlimited hay is the best for you bun. If there is a vet you can go to that specializes in buns, you may be able to get a milk substitute. I’m not sure how good the pellets are for them at that age

That’s the ones I feed my two (im in the uk) they definitely do a junior rabbit nugget too, it might be worth a try but I agree that a vet visit is probably a good idea. I had Bramble from six weeks old so not quite as young as yours but the advice my vet gave me was unlimited hay and nuggets until about ten weeks when we started switching over half and half with junior and adult nuggets then started reducing nuggets and adding veggies at around twelve weeks eliminating the junior nuggets completely. However there is a big difference between a six week old rabbit and a three week old rabbit, I would call a vet for advice to be honest.

Yes, George took much better to the Burgess mint junior and dwarf pellets – they’re much smaller and easier to eat plus higher in protein.

I have heard that you can give adult pellets, just more of them (which I guess is hard to measure with unlimited) plus alfalfa hay as that has protein.

Given how young she is, I would try to get the junior ones as the guidelines above are really for 8+ weeks.
