        Hello!

I normally feed my 5 month old Holland Lop Manna Pro Sho because I like that it has anti-hairball qualities from the papaya in its formula. (It isn’t muesli, don’t worry!) Today, I was not able to get his normal formula of pellets, however! I could only find a bag of Manna Pro normal, which I am not too happy with. The problem is that I have very, very little to transition him with. They normally have his formula but of course, this time they wouldn’t. They’re both alfalfa-based, and seem somewhat comparable… So long as I transition as slowly as I can with what I have left (It’d only take about 2 days to polish off the remainder of his old food) and offer him tons of hay (No problem there, he snubs pellets for hay a lot anyhow!) will he be okay? I’ve also been getting him used to Romaine… Should I stop with the romaine until he’s okay with the pellets or would removing the romaine cause even more tummy problems? I plan on switching him to Oxbow Young Rabbit formula and getting him dried papaya once I get some things settled, this food will be just for now. He was doing very well on Manna Pro Sho, he has such a shiny, soft coat!

Now I have another question! How much papaya should I be giving him? The dried papaya I’ll be purchasing is Dr Foster and Smith’s (Found here) and I’m not sure if other bunny moms feed it, and if so, should I cut it into fourths and give about half of one a day? Or is there a better calculation for it? He’s about 3lb if that helps.

        Thanks in advance!

Well, that papaya is really just a treat – the best thing and only thing for gut health is hay, hay, hay…rabbits don’t get hairballs like cats.
