We adopted our Bun in March, and besides always having loose tufts of hair in certain areas, she hasn’t shedded the way she is now. We can’t even pet her without hair flying everywhere.  I have a brush that has wire bristles on one side and dense,  softer bristles on the other, but it isn’t doing the trick. I think I need something that will remove the loose underneath hair.  We are told her breed is Netherland dwarf and lop mix, so her hair is short.  I really need some suggestions for a good brush or comb as well as any other helpful grooming ideas.

Sounds like a Furminator would work well on her. I use the Small Animal Furminator on my short haired bun. You need to be careful not to over groom however or it will leave bald spots.

Your bun is going through a molt and most buns do this several times a year. A good way to get all that loose fluff after you groom is to go over your bun with wet hands (shake off the excess water first). This gets all those loose hairs that would otherwise be licked off.

I do it a silly way but works well for my furballs lol. I use a lint roller (cheap ones work well as they aren’t as sticky lol) and my rabbits will just sit there like its a petting. Brushes have never worked with my buns just cause their fur is so fine, so I had to find a way around it

The hairbuster comb works pretty well too. You have to push the rubber piece down so there is less tooth showing so it can catch the fur on shorter haired buns.

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually grabbed a lint roller tonight and rolled it down her back, and I couldn’t believe the amount of hair that came off! I am going to order one of the combs you all recommended, but in the meantime, I will use the lint roller and damp hands. Can’t wait til this is over! She also seems much more hungry than usual, and is back to trying to pull up the carpet, which she hasn’t done since she’s been spayed. I guess this moulting is making her a bit nutty!

They absolutely can become a bit nutty during a heavy shed. Some buns become grumpy, some get tummy trouble.

Lillian’s lint-roller tip is great imo, I’ve never had as pretty bunnies as I do now =) And the best thing is there’s no fluff flying around all over the place.
