        Hi all,

My two bunnies live in our sun room off the kitchen and ever since we moved in we haven’t touched it.  I am finally ready to try and paint it but have always been concerned about the safety of my buns.  I use low voc paint, but is that probably still not good for them to be in there while we do it? (with windows open of course)  It’s so hard to move them from their pens because I know they’ll be super angry if we keep them pent up all day in a small carrier or cage when they’re used to having so much free space.  I don’t see an alternative except doing it with them in there…  Any thoughts?

        Thanks a lot!

Lot’s of cross ventilation to keep fumes from settling and you should be fine.

I would not try to do it with the bunnies in there. Not only do you need to think about fumes, but them getting into the supplies or touching the wet paint.

Is there another room you could bunny proof temporarily? Bathroom seems the to be easiest to bunny proof if you have more than one.

Maybe put them in your largest bathroom/laundry room with all their stuff? I’d also (safety concerns aside) just hate to have any animal in general in the same room with me painting because of the distraction and having to be extra careful. I always want to get painting done as quickly and best as possible lol

Thanks everyone for your input! I don’t think they’d mess with anything, we’d keep them pushed to the center of the room, they’re in pens, and it’s a large room.. Plus they’re sleeping most of the daytime anyhow. But good idea with moving to a bathroom. They’re housed separately so it adds to needing more space if I relocate them. But my master bathroom is fairly large so maybe I can rig something up for them in there so that they’re not freaking out all day with the change in living area. They never go outside their pens, ie travel, etc, so I know they don’t adapt to the change well! I would feel much better having them out of the room. I just want to feel ok if they do have to be in there that the fumes aren’t going to harm them.

                Thanks!!
