Has anybody here used infacol brand baby simethicone and is it okay/safe to use? I usually get the Ovol brand but they were out. The infacol I saw contained “orange flavour” and something called saccharin sodium (which I believe is an artificial sweetner). I am wondering if this is safe as I’ve never used it, only ovol.

        This is the one: http://www.boots.com/en/Infacol-50ml_1820/

Yes, it’s the easiest one to get here in Australia, however it is not sweetened or flavoured. I have never seen the flavoured one. Check other pharmacies and supermarkets for the plain one.http://www.productreview.com.au/p/infacol-wind-drops.html

Hmm.. the only one I saw was flavoured. I read something on BB here about saccharin causing cancer, saccharin is listed as an ingredient in infacol :/

Edit: sodium saccharin. I don’t know if “sodium saccharin” is different from just plain saccharin.

In an emergency you can try unsweetened pineapple juice, not proven but some swear by it. Mashed pumpkin, unsweetened not pie filling type, is also good.

Sodium saccharine is the solid form of saccharine, so it’s an artificial sweetener. It’s in the type of simethicone I use for my buns too, there is only one brand on the market here so I’ve no choice. It has a slightly sweet taste but my buns still hate it with all their might. (That’s why I’ve tasted it, to see if it was as totally horrible as they seem to think it is. To a human like me, it was actually pretty tasty.)

I’ve used fresh pineapple for my buns, and pineapple I’ve frozen myself (since fresh pineapple isn’t always available here). The enzymes in pineapple that work as a digestive aid are destroyed by heat, so canned pineapple doesn’t contain a lot of that. But if your bun likes the canned, unsweetened pineapple it may still be good because you can mix it with CC and hopefully get the bun to eat something, which is a 1000 times better than a bun eating nothing.
