I’m growing most of Boonie’s food in my backyard (though if she had it her way it would just be a large banana plantation :p )
I’m also growing some things for myself and one of them is chia for the seeds. They are pretty large bushes and I’m wondering if she can eat the leaves?
Also if anyone knows, what about the guinea pigs, could they eat the leaves?

I’ve got no direct info, so I’m googling. I had no idea chia seeds were so nutritious! How do you eat them?

I found some threads I’ll paste below. Looks like chia is related to mint (which is safe) however I just don’t see anything difinitive. Maybe better safe than sorry and keep the chia for yourself?

Yeah I haven’t been able to find any real evidence on whether it’s good or bad. Might have to just not risk it. Although if it’s in the mint family there’s a high change my Boonie would ignore it anyway. She hates mint.

The seeds are wonderful, u can sprinkle them on top of your cereal, Oatmeal or yoghurt. Or the best thing is to make chia puddings, there’s many recipes on the net for this. But I like to go simple as possible and just use chia seeds, coconut milk, And a flavor of your choice, I like to use blueberry purée or a mixture of vanilla bean and cinnamon
You can also simply eat the seeds on their own
When they get wet (including with saliva) they start to swell up, which makes them easier for ur body to digest and they are also quite filling
Being a vegetarian myself they are definitely one of my favs

I’ve given chia to Porky a few times, he loves them.
