I just got a kitten, small 8 week old male. Pretty chill, not hyper. He does try to play with Meeko, but she like chases him and ‘attacks’ him (with no injuries) what’s the best way to make them friends? She does fine most of the time (they’ve been out together for about 25 min now with supervision).

*Side note. Meeko keeps peeing on my couch > she is an adolescent now (5 months), could it be that? She doesn’t do it anymore, but i’ve been keeping her caged, I think she realizes that if she pees she gets cage time.

she took the liberty of Chinning him while he was sleeping. I have a video but it won’t let me upload.

They still don’t love each other outside of Meeko’s cage, but they spend a lot of time next to each other through the bars… playing I guess it could be..

What happens is Oliver, my kitten, goes over and paws at her through the bars, she doesn’t usually move away, and she’ll paw right back like in that video, I’m not sure if it’s playing on her part but they do it often.

Outside of the cage, he chases her around now (didn’t used to), but she doesn’t hide from him 95% of the time, so is it play chasing? It’s so hard to read her lol.

No one has replied I can’t have Meeko and my kitten out of Meeko’s cage together because he goes after her, I’m sure trying to play rough like he does with his toys, but it’s terrorizing my poor rabbit. I want them to be friends

I’m sorry that you have yet to get replies. Not all bunnies and cats will be friends. Lots of members here have stories about bunnies putting cats ‘in their place’. It’s about 50-50 friends-enemies.

Please don’t force the issue. If they have to live separate lives and only see each other through a pen, that’s not awful.

Some cats, especially young ones, have a high prey drive. It sounds like yours does. Since your kitten was taken from his mother at 8 weeks (rather than the recommended 12 weeks), it’s also possible that he doesn’t know how to play nice. A scared bunny will only serve to reinforce poor behaviour.

I would leave them be and lock the cat out of the room when your rabbit has his daily exercise. Enjoy them as individuals!
