Okay so we have had a few small escapades.

Chom is already home, earlier than imagined. Speckles is being spayed tomorrow. But no worries about babies, Chom has been neutered for over a year now. Speckles is in her cage in the living room, and Chom lays by it to sleep, and just relax. He feels calmer near her I guess? She lays on the other side inside her cage, as close to him as she can get. She sticks her nose through the bars occasionally, and snuffles, and appears to lick his fur, and nibble at it.

Buuuuut last night Speckles decided to break out of her cage. ((I got a heavier clamp for her doors now.))

Heard a small thump, and wandered into the room, wondering if he got stuck somewhere exploring, but nope. There is Speckles, speedily humping Chom’s bum, and Chom looking just completely miserable while she does this. Speckles was the thumper. No fighting, just that one humping. I pulled her away from him, and she got out of my hands, and went and snuffled his face, gave his ear a lick, and then tried to hump his face. Chom did not seem perturbed by it, other than just laying down and taking it.

Put her back in her cage and kept an eagle eye on her. They are currently laying together separated by the cage bars, relaxing. They don’t seem hostile towards each other. i wasn’t planning on introducing them without the cage until Speckles was spayed, healed fully, and her hormones calmed down.

That small humping incodent won’t ruin the bond? I’m not sure, I’ve never bonded a rabbit before.

I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ll need to give Speckles several weeks for her hormones to calm down before you start the bonding anyhow. Hopefully by then there won’t be any hard feelings.

Their interactions actually sound good. I wouldn’t worry. Just keep their cages close so they can continue to lie next to eachother, even through her spay recovery.

Vanessa Chom doesn’t have a cage, he is free roam.

LittlePuffyTail, thanks. I was worried that it would affect their bonding. Hopefully her hormones will calm soon. Chom didn’t have any outburst with his hormones and I’m hoping for the same from Speckles.
