this my first rabbit so I’m still not sure what is normal behavior.

when I pet him (dwarf rabbit about 4 months old) he makes this sound that i can only describe as someone eating a carrot or kind of vegetable. I have searched youtube and I don’t think its the purring sound.

As other the last two days when I come back into the room he will stand up in his cage to digging at the bars until he falls backwards. I am scared he is going to hurt himself. Any advice would be wonderful!

The purring sound is a kind of tooth-.grind, which can sound like a bunny eating a piece of sth hard. You can also feel a tooth-purr if you Place your fingers on the bunny’s head, the skull vibrates if it’s a tooth purr. Anyway, if your bunny doesn’t try to get away when he’s being pet, I’d interpret the sound as a happy-sound.

Are you giving him some out-of-the-cage time so he can run around and binky and explore for like a couple of hours every day? Does he have toys and stuff in his cage that he can amuse himself with? Young buns have lots of energy and need to use it. if they can’t, they will be frustrated and direct all their energy towards getting out of the cage.

Porky does the excited stand up and bounce till he looses his balance and rolls backwards thing. He also sometimes looses his balance while cleaning his tail amd roll sort back to the side. He hasn’t hurt himself yet. As long as you aren’t putting him on high surfaces he can roll off of it should be fine.
