So a few weeks back me and my husband went to his new work partners house

For a meal and I asked to use their toilet. In their downstairs toilet was a beautiful

Rabbit in what I can only describe as a large hamster cage. He was on a bed of hay

With what looked like iceberg lettuce just scattered on the floor. I immediately felt

        Terrible for this lil fellow.

I told my husband on our way home and he agreed it seemed cruel.

Anyway on Tuesday I was in hospital with my son who has cerebral palsy and my husband

Came after work and mentioned the aforementioned couple were getting ‘rid’ of their rabbit.

I told him to go at once and fetch him. He did bless him. He’s now in a huge indoor cage

With several chew toys and he’s given the run of the house almost all day as I’m home look in

After my disabled son. He’s a beautiful rabbit. And he’s on pellets as well as dandelion leaves

Me and the children went and picked for him. He’s extremely tame and I have him in the vets

Tomorrow as he’s obviously not neutered and never had his claws clipped.

The thing that worries me though is that he is NOT afraid of the Hoover. He will even sit on it

As its going round. Is this normal or should I be concerned his hearing is affected. Especially

Seeing as my son can squeal at times while the rabbit is sat on his knee and the rabbit just

        Doesn’t bother.

First of all, I ‘m so glad you took this little bun into your home. Sounds like he will be well loved.

He could be hard of hearing or just a very laid back bunny. Do you know approx. how old he is? And is he a lop?

As a new bunny owner, if you haven’t already, I suggest you check out the Bunny Info section here on BB. There is great info on diet and care.

Could be either one — not afraid of the vac or hearing impaired. We use a shop vac to clean the bunny areas and ours are used to the sound so not afraid, but Moshi is pretty much deaf since birth. We think he can hear a little at times. The vet can check his ears to rule out obvious infection, but if the ears look ok and he’s not overly scratching his ears, he doesn’t have a head tilt, and shows no signs of discomfort, he just may be hard of hearing. Its not totally unusual for lop bunnies to be hard of hearing and the ones who are get along fine, especially with a few modifications like turning on a light when entering te area so bunny isn’t started.
