I use hardwood stove pellets. They’re affordable and super-absorbant and can be put in the compost after use. You get them in hard-ware stores and such places, they’re not sold as pet litter.
Other than that, I’ve used Yesterday’s News. Good, but pricey and bulky and I have to go out of town to get them. So I stick with the hardwood stove pellets.

I agree with bam on the pellets, although I use all-natural Animal pellets. Same concept though. If they are made specifically for your pets, there’s very little chance of any chemicals, and they are usually screened to remove dust. I used news paper too for a while lol! Skip the well known pet stores (Avoid the “we are all over the world/country” stores,as they are eager to overcharge!) and look for a “feed” store. They sell bulk goods at a cheap price usually (finding one may depends on your area!) I usually get a 1 cubic foot bag for $7-$9, and that lasts me a good few months between my two bunnies cages and their two litter boxes!

I agree with the hardwood stove pellets. Just make sure they are accelerant free. You can still line the pan with newspaper to make cleanin easier. I also put a good layer of hay on to . This allows the pee to filter through and keeps their feet dry. It also gives them something to munch on while they do their business.

I use Yesterday’s News and I will never use anything else. Very happy with it.

I use the wood stove pellets with my little sister’s rabbit, but Luna (we think…she sneezes a bunch more than normally and her nose gets runnier than it normally is [ive had her to two vets and multiple antibiotic treatments…so far we’ve ruled out everything but allergies. Dang high maintenance rabbit! lol]) is allergic to them so I use Yesterday’s News with her…and so far I LOVE it! I don’t sneeze and want to die from my watery eyes while filling and cleaning Luna’s litter box anymore (I’m pretty allergic to the wood stove pellets) ☺️

I differ a bit from the norm here, I use a layer of compressed straw pellets underneath with a layer of hemp bedding on top. The straw pellets are extremely absorbent, and the hemp smells really nice, is soft for the bunny’s feet and hypoallergenic so it keeps the bedding nice and dust-free for the bunny’s respiratory system. The hemp is also a lot lighter in color than the straw pellets, and bunny poop is easy to see and differentiate from the bedding on top of it for the daily poop cleaning. The hemp layer also keeps the bunnies from eating too many of the straw pellets, even though it’s not that big a catastrophe if they ingest a few every now and then.

I use wood shavings and i love itt. It seems to soak up a lot of pee and my bun loves to dig in it when i clean and its fresh.

I use Kaytee Clean and Cozy Small Animal Bedding. It’s less dusty than Carefresh, cheaper, and gets the job done. I change my litter every other day, so there’s no funky smell.
