When Mr. Binkins was under the weather, I was feeding him pumpkin mixed with pellet mash and simethicone. Now that he’s doing better, I stopped mixing in the simethicone, and I’m slowly weening him off of it. But it’s his very favorite food, he gobbles it like crazy. Is there any way I can keep feeding it to him, maybe once a day in place of his regular pellets he was getting before?

I wouldn’t other than maybe a little dab as a treat. It’s not part of a buns daily diet.

Ok. I guess it’s good to keep it as a last resort anyways. If he gets it all the time, when he does NEED something to encourage him to eat.

It is good to have a very special treat to offer in case his appetite should go down for some reason like gas in the future. Bunnies should chew their food because their teeth need constant wearing. So when he’s in good health he should eat whole, hard pellets, but if he needs extra nutrition in the future, the mash is great since he loves it

Ok. I’ve cut him down from 3 to 2 servings, for the last few days, and tomorrow he’s getting a half serving in the morning and a half at night for a couple days. Don’t wanna mess up his tums again.

Of course not! The change should be gradual. You can of course also give him a little bit of the pumpkin/pellet mash as a special treat like once a week or so, if you want to. Nothing wrong with spoiling a bunny a little bit now and then!
