I’m working a 12 hour shift today and the fiancé is gone also so I came home for lunch and let lux out and she was running all around pooping everywhere and binking nonstop!!! It was soooooooo cute. Took me 20 minutes to catch her but she exercised for 20 minutes so that’s good. I won’t be home for another 8 hours so when I get home I’m going to let her roam around again. But when she was binking I was dieing it was so cute. I think I need to get her a bigger cage. This one we have was $120 at petco it’s big but she moves her home and everything.

This is what I am getting my bun boys … you just have to make it taller, Its budget friendly if you do decide to upgrade. http://www.guineapigcagesstore.com/standard-guinea-pig-cages

Dog exercise pens are also great but if you have carpet that can be an issue especially since she poops everywhere.

she binkies all the time when we let her out but always runs into her hut when we try to get her out of her cage…  why do you think she runs into her hut but binkies all the time?  This truly means shes a happy bunny?

Bunnies like to run into their huts. It’s their safe place. If you have a safe place to return to should you need to, you can explore the rest of the world more freely. It’s only a problem if they then stay in hut all day long and won’t come out, that means they don’t trust their environment.

Sorry about the measurements. Will convert to centimeters when I get home from the gym. It may be too small for when she’s grown up. I have a very similar hutch for my Bam at my mother’s, but it’s really too small. Since Bam’s a very well-behaved bunny he can be free roam, so we always leave the door open and keep the litter-box outside it. But he likes to hop in there at night to eat and sleep.

I did the calculation and I really think it’s too small. There is a 48 inch variant that looks better, but the bunny must be able to stand up on her hind legs inside it. A cage like that should have an exercise pen attached to it imo, made from NIC grids f ex.
Really there are less expensive variants of cages you can make from dog crates f ex that are much more suitable for a bunny than virtually all ready-made bunny cages. Please check out the habitat-section for inspiration!

i will check them out.  I was thinking about making a cage for Lux.  I have a playpen for her and thinking aboput figuring out how to connect it to the cage she is ion now which is about 3 feet 3 1/2 feet long.  Shes still a baby so once she gets bigger then I will start building a new one.

I just have 2 considerations for the hutch, because I think it’s nice. First, it depends on what breed of rabbit she is, ie. how big do you expect her to get? Some of the bunnies here only weigh less than 4 lbs, and that would be OK. But a rabbit that will be larger might find it too small very soon.

My other concern is the flooring. If the upper level is not made of a wire floor, it’s OK. Never use wire under a bunny’s feet. It leads to sore hocks.

Most cages made for guinea pigs are going to be too small for most rabbits. Is there a slightly larger version of that hutch? (Use it indoors, also.)

I LUV binkies! They are the best! (Spike is doing binkies on my couch. Too cute!)

she is a mini satin rabbit and there will never just be a wire cage for her feet it will always be a flat service.  Any suggestions on a cage?
