Had anyone tried liners for their litter boxes? With how much Tenzin pees I was thinking it may be more economical to just make fleece liners with an absorbent backing.

When one of my bunnies was sick and couldn’t use a litter I lined her cage with a fleece designed to prevent bed sores in people who are bed ridden. While this was helpful in that situation having to change this everyday and wash it was far from economical or convenient. I would recommend using hardwood stove pellets. You can get a 40 pound bag at a feed store or hardware store and change it every two days. One of my bunnies pees like crazy so I have put a plastic strainer filled with hay into his litter. I can then put the pellets underneath so I only have to throw out the used pellets and can just freshen up the hay as needed.

I used pellets with him … they turn into powder when wet … not a good idea…

I am use to pet laundry … I use to use fleece liners for my rat cages.

We got the litterbox screens from the BB store and they made a HUGE difference in the amount of litter we use. Lovin’ those screens.

Yes, I was going to suggest a litter screen too.

I don’t think those will help … They don’t prevent the litter from being soaked in pee and thats our only issue, my boys don’t kick it out.

The screen seems to keep them from sinking into the litter, plus a little hay on top lets the pee run through to the litter and keeps their feet comfy and dry.

I used to use old cloth diapers to line the bottom of Porky’s litter box. My washing machine kept getting clogged with hay.
