Having the boys makes me really anxious. The good news is that the boys are doing well with being free roam. I’m really paranoid about my buns. I half convinced myself George was ill (in hindsight he was probably sleeping) and gave him the parsley I need for my lunch. (Both rabbits immediately ate it.)

I’m also really paranoid that Fred is a girl. He’s got a really round tummy. I’m not sure if this is just puppy fat (bunny fat?) or whether it just seems big because he’s got an unusually small head (he’s a cross breed) but he looks so different to George. (But then, they also have different ears, fur texture and head sizes.) Or because he’s greedy.

I haven’t seen any humping between them but I know it only takes once. I’ve tried feeling his tummy but I’m not certain I know what to feel for (marbles?). He hasn’t been nest building but he does have a fat neck (in my opinion, not in my wife’s).

They’re going for neutering on Monday anyway, so I suppose if he is a pregnant girl I’ll just have to hope he can be spayed. I know this effectively makes the point moot but I just need to put it out somewhere.

Good luck for Monday, (Fred) (George)

My two dwarf girls got spayed on Thursday, I’v been using puppy training pads in the corners they use as toilets, to keep them from sitting in a puddle post op. It has a big advantage to anxious bunny-mums, as it has been a clear way to see how much and how often they pee and poop, both very important after not eating or drinking for a few hours while under anesthetic.

Monday is in a few hours

breath-don’t spend time worrying, unless you got really good at sexing rabbits you won’t be able to work anything out in the meantime so relax and let us know how Monday goes!

For me it was Saturday when I posted, Sunday now.

I will pick up some puppy pads while I’m at the vets.

Yeah, I know that I have no experience so I haven’t turned them upside down to have a look.

Well, my paranoia about Fred’s neck being girl-like interspliced with “but George’s neck is getting fatter too” has been solved – they’re both girls! Neither are pregnant but both of them are bloated (Fred more than George).

Just finished the work day from hell.

Our local vet says to only feed them hay. According to my wife they’ve been pooping mucus. We’ve got painkillers at home so I’m going to call the vets further away who seemed a bit more rabbit savvy.

I don’t want to feed them up if they’ve got a blockage and I could definitely feel poops in Fred yesterday.

Have they been spayed? Or will you get that done by the more bunny savvy vet?

No spaying – they’re not old enough for a spay yet as girls tend to be done older.

They weren’t allowed their vaccinations either (which was our back up if they weren’t allowed neutering) because of bloating.
