Now that my fussy bun has passed, I’m thinking of trying a greater variety of hay for Fred and George but I have allergies and am wondering if there’s any brands that might be better for me.

So far they’ve eaten Pets at Home Timothy Hay which is a very unattractive brown colour, but also fine for my allergies.

I tried Mr Roger on Alfalfa King* Timothy Hay which was very green but made my allergies horrendous. (As well as some brown flavoured ones)

*this is the brand name, there’s no alfafa in it

Timothy is generally considered the worst hay for people with allergies. You could try orchard or fescue or oat hay.

I have timothy allergies, and I’ve done very well with most other grass hays. Brome and mature oat are probably the best for my allergies, but I primarily use orchard, and it doesn’t bother me very much. In my experiences, the timothy dust is what affects my allergies the most, so I would also recommend keeping an eye out for that.

I’m not sure if they have it by you, but I used Oxbow’s timothy for a short time, and I could tolerate it pretty well.

I vote orchard & oat too. Oat makes good golden poos too.
If it’s hay dust that’s a problem, there’s a company in UK called Dust Free Hay. I’ve read good reviews about them. The Hay Experts is another if your having trouble sourcing hay. (Plus they stock the Binky Bunny maze haven!)

Quite a few hay allergic peeps here on BB have claimed that Orchard is much better for them. My buns love Orchard best.
