With six sets of claws to keep trim, I thought I’d see if there was any advice on here, and found the pinned video

None of my bunnies or piggies would ever stay that still during clipping, but the press, press, clip does seem to work. I managed five out of six pets, without a clipped quick. Sadly, poor Jenny ended up with two bleeding nails, but she is so wild still its hard to hold her at all, and her claws were so long I doubt they’ve ever been trimmed. I did manage Gina’s a few weeks ago, so she just needed the very tips taking off anyway. Its possible the two of Jenny’s that bled had been broken while she was living rough

I think Jenny came off the better of her and me though, my arms and legs show my dedication to completing the job

She did press against me shivering after, so I just sat quietly stroking her for five minutes, then put her gently back in her cage. Took the following picture straight after, so I think she wasn’t to distressed by the clipping…

My heart just aches for what this poor baby has been through

My girl gets really stressed (and beats me up after) during nail trims so I only do 2 feet one day and the other 2 the next. And I always give a treat right after. My buns know the treat is coming right after the nails. And it makes me feel less like a horrible monster.

It’s soon time for me to do the same, and I don’t know how we’re going to manage it. Our bun hates to be picked up. We recently tried wrapping her in a towel to give her medication after her spay, and it didn’t go well at all. The Vet clipped her nails last month at her check-up, so we haven’t had to do it yet. I guess I’ll be coming back here to get some suggestions before attempting it!

Jenny gave me the dreaded kicking up dust gesture last night and is still growling at anyone who comes near 20 hours later
