What have you all found is the best method for keeping veggies fresh?  For green leaf lettuce, romaine, and kale, I pull it apart into large leaf sections, wash it and lay it out on paper towels to dry. I then put a paper towel in the bottom of a 1 galloon ziplock add the greens then put a paper towel on top and seal it. I use a seperate bag for each type of veggie.  It stays fresh for maybe a week.  I store the dandelions in a plastic bin with paper towels on the bottom and top. I would love to hear how others do it so i can maybe get them to stay fresher longer.

I pre-shred my lettuces and put them in a tupperware container lined with paper towels. For the other veggies, I place them in their own separate paper towel lined tupperware, but I don’t shred them. I don’t bother pre-washing my veg, I just wash what I need for the day. I find that my veg usually lasts for a week or a week and half depending on what it is I’m storing. Some things last longer, like escarole and kale. My veg usually turns sludgy within the week if I pre-wash. Plus it’s more work in one go.

I find my whole veggies keep longest left as is from the store. I keep them in the fridge in an unsealed back so they get a bit of air circulation. So I don’t wash or cut them till ready to serve.

Prepared salads in a bag or clamshell box do best with a paper towel added to absorb extra moisture.

Hi guys, I talked about this in an article. I thought you may enjoy this article — they did a test on which is the best way to store veggies.

              http://www.thekitchn.com/we-tried-3-ways-to-store-salad-greens-and-heres-our-winner-tips-from-the-kitchn-211770?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=managed

The winner is in a container w/ paper towels lining! It’s been amazing for me. This explains the top three options & why which ones are better/worse.

I have luck storing veggies for 7-10 days in these Rubbermaid Salad Savers http://www.rubbermaid.com/en-US/produce-saver. Usually between all my animals greens AR gone before they go bad. No extra paper towels needed, the bottom is raised to keep greens out of any water in the bottom and there are small vents for condensation.
