My male neutered 2 year old bun Dusty is a total sweetheart but sometimes, especially after ive been petting him for a while and then stop, he’ll start to dig at my hands and gently biting and tossing my fingers around.  It doesn’t hurt and I know he’s doing it gently on purpose because ive been bitten by him for real one time in his life and it drew blood.  So I wanted to ask if bunnies were capable of “play fighting”?  He stops nibbling and digging if I start petting his head and nose again, but continues if I kind of fight him back like bopping his nose or gently grabbing his paws.  So I just wanted to ask if doing this with him stresses him out or if it’s fun for him or if he’s being aggressive or what.

It’s not uncommon for rabbits to react with biting and/or scratching when a human stops petting them. It means you’re supposed to keep petting them. It’s not aggressive.

I wouldn’t call it being aggressive. I would call it being a demanding bunny.

I think you’ve taught him how to keep you petting him!
