It seems Mr. Binkins has a dark spot on his testicle.According to my boyfriend, he noticed it a week ago. It looks almost the kind of spot a dog would have on it’s tummy. I thought that rabbit testicles were supposed to be just pink, not any other colors. Is this normal? I’m freaking out about it a little. Especially since we had guests over tonight that he isn’t familiar with, so he’s been really jumpy all night. I can’t get him to sit still long enough to take a look.

Well, I guess it depends on what the spot looks like. Is it the skin? Or fur regrowing?

I can’t tell. It doesn’t really look like he has fur on his testicles. They look naked and pink. And one the innerside of the right testicle, the entire side of it is a blackish blob of color. But it looks like colored skin. It’s hard to explain. It looks like a spot an animal might have under their fur. I have a vet appt for him on monday. It’s time anyways, he’ll be one in September, and he hasn’t had more than a couple of nail trims yet. So he should be checked out.

Well, if you have an appointment for Monday anyway, then I don’t see the harm in waiting until then. We could make all kinds of guesses based on your description, but it’s hard knowing for sure. There are definitely medical issues that could cause this (infection, etc) or it could be pigmented skin or something else entirely.

Yea. I was just wondering if anyone had come across anything similar, just so I had an idea. But if there’s no way to really know without a vet visit, then vet visit it it. Poor guy, might go in and find out he’s gotta get neutered we were putting it off a little longer, just cause I worry about the operation and stuff.

My first guess is that it’s a stain from something, sat on a blueberry maybe?

Letting the vet take a look, seems the best way to go since you’ll be there anyway. Unless your bunny is in the habit of making his testicles disappear when being examined by the vet, Porky does that, I don’t think the vet has ever seen them.

So, before then, I would see if a little gentle cleaning took care of it.

Probably not a blue berry, he is NOT a fan. And oh lord, I really hope he doesnt do that. I haven’t been able to get a good look without out him running off to somewhere else in the house. So the vet is really the only option.

Even if he pulls his testicles up into his body, the spot on the skin should still be visible for the vet to look at.

Oh, ok I’m excited for it anyways. We get to find out how much he weighs and stuff. He’s still a baby.

So, we had the vet appt today. His first actual checkup. He isn’t a big fan. Apparently, the dark spot on his testicle is just pigmented skin. But he got a nail trim, and weighs about 7 lbs. And now he’s recovering from his busy day. I am COVERED in scratches. Poor little guy was so scared.
