        Hello all,
My bun has had two bouts of this in the past. I took her to the bet a couple of weeks ago for routine body check up and some blood work. All looking normal. Today, bunny ate, drank, pooped normally. Was running around like a wild woman. Lays down… Boom … GI symtoms… On her tummy, up, dragging herself, letheragic. Her temperature, felt through her ears, dropped really quickly. Her tummy (and when this has happened in the past) was really sunken and awful feeling.(Not bloated, which I understand is typical)

Started with some tummy massages, tried to get her up and hopping around. She was just up and down on her belly.
I called the emerg. vet to ask if I could give her some of the medication I had left over from the last bout of this (march) and of course they said they couldn’t advise one way or another, which I understand. She suggested the safest at this point would be pain medication if I were to medicate, but only if she worsens.

So this lasted for about an hour, no change in behaviour, however drop in temperature. I got her in a towel and gave her the pain medication. She hops away (angry grunting, etc), upstairs, to the litter box and drops a few droppings. She is now grooming herself and was hopping- still refusing treats, etc.

I know the pain medication doesn’t workin seconds, however, perhaps the hustle and bustle from being chased, picked up, wrapped up, forced medication helped move things around a bit. I will be checking on her throughout the night, warm wishes and any general throughts from others with GI experience would be apprecaited!
        Thanks so much

Keep massaging, syringe her water if she doesn’t drink on her own. Hydration is key. Keep her warm f ex in your knee with a fleece blankie on her.

She may have gas, it rather sounds like she does, and some may have come out due to the chasing, picking up and all that. I give baby gas drops (simethicone) when my bunnies show signs of gas. I find it helps, there’s little scientific evidence to support it though, but according to HRS and MediRabbit it’s safe.

I just recently sat up all night with one of mine and did all these things. I also gave some critical care. If there’s a blockage that would not be adviced though, and you can’t know unless you get an X-ray.

It’s very nerve-wrecking. Sending lots of ((((((((((get well soon))))))))) vibes.

{{{Vibes}}} for your girl. I totally empathise. I spent a night this week with my girl trying to give relief for some discomfort.

I gave gas meds a few times. Have you tried that?
Be careful with metacam when you think your bunny has a low temp. It’s important to warm them up first.

Has your vet checked her teeth? That’s often linked to stasis.

ETA: sorry bam. I didn’t see your post before I replied. We’re tag teaming lately!

((((GET WELL VIBES)))) I hope she is feeling better! I would do what bam and jerseygirl suggested if you haven’t tried gas drops I would they have helped my bunny out.

                Thanks everyone for the reponses.
I woke up throughout the night to check on her and she was eating and pooping and acting normally. I spoke with the vet this morning and she said it sounded like gas. I am going to pick up some gas drops for the future for her. Keep those good throughts for me- I am going out of town for 5 days and am leaving Casper behind, having someone check on her three times a day ***fingers crossed for no funny business****
