We contacted the lady who we got Baxter and Wobert from, letting her know that Baxter passed away and to share photo’s of the boys with her. We asked her if she had any babies coming up for sale, but she informed us that she no longer breeds as she has moved into the city.

But she told us that she has been thinking of finding a home for the boys mother, she said if we are interested, she will have her fixed before we get her.

My partner and I like the idea of having Wobert’s mum. The owner said it is less likely for the two to reject each other. But I’d love to hear other’s opinions on whether this may or may not be a good idea.

Anyway, this here (below) is Vanilla, she is a flemsih giant (the boys dad was a mini lop), house trained, 5kg’s  (Wobert is 2.4kg’s)  18 months old

I think if you are interested in getting another bunny then getting Vanilla I think would be a great choice. I think its wonderful that she would be spayed before you get her as well. I wonder if they would remember each other. I think that it may help the bonding process if they did. I look forward to hearing if you decide to get her or not! She is a pretty bunny too!

Aww, she’s so pretty! That would be wonderful if you got her and could reunite mother and son. It’s also very nice that the breeder is willing to spay her for you.

She doesn’t sound like a reputable breeder, so personally I would be hesitant to do business with her. But since she has stopped breeding I suppose it won’t make as much of a difference at this point. The poor girl needs a home so why not? Reuniting her with her son would be sweet, even though I wouldn’t count on them remembering each other, or caring too much if they did. Once the litter grows up the mother doesn’t usually feel any different about them than any other rabbit they’re familiar with. It could help with the bonding process though if they do remember each other, they might feel more at ease.

              She’s beautiful!

I think a new friend would be good for Wobert, but as Hazel points out, they may not remember each other or care if they do, so you should be prepared to go through a bonding-process (you can read lots about bonding-processes in the bonding sub-forum) – i e you can’t expect them to immediately get along just because they are family. But they may get along just fine – just be cautious.

                Vanilla is beautiful =)
