Hello, I dont have access to Oxbow rabbit food at my local store, which is one of the most recommended brands according to what Ive seen. I was wondering if you could help me with you suggestions on which brand is better Mazuri or Selective ? Those I do have access to at my local Petco store. Ive seen they also have Kaytee. Or of you know of one that is the best one after Oxbow I would appreciate your feedback ( I would still have to check if they have it at my local Petco store, so please if you can provide feedback on the Mazuri vs Selective, Id appreciate it &nbsp .

Ive fed my 2 rabbits with Mazuri and Selective, they seem like both, I can see they prefer the Mazuri better.

The Mazuri bag has on the back of the bag that a guaranteed analysis , so I dont know if that makes it more reliable than the other brand ?

Anyway I hope you can help me , I always turn to this site for answers when I need advise

        Thanks in advance !

I’m not familiar with either one of those brands. I use Oxbow. Oxbow is sold at Pet Smart as well as several places online. It sounds like you only have Petco in your area. I know that some people here do use Kaytee for their rabbits. Just be sure that you are getting plain pellets, not any with seeds or colored bits added in.

If your rabbits are adults, they should be getting timothy based pellets, not alfalfa based ones.

Here is the recommended nutritional value to look for in pellets:

          Fiber 18% minimum (20 -25% best)
          Fat 1 – 2% max
Protein 12 – 14% max (long-haired breeds may need higher)
          Calcium 1% max

If any of the 3 brands you are considering are plain, timothy based pellets (if your rabbits are adults) and they come close to the recommended nutritional value, they should be okay. I usually get my Oxbow pellets at drsfostersmith.com, where I also get my hay, or I might get them at Pet Smart if they are on sale. I find that Pet Smart has high prices.

Mazuri actually isn’t that bad, but it’s kind of expensive. We used that brand for our chinchillas and it was decent. I would imagine their rabbit formula is similar. Kaytee Timothy Complete is OK. I know nothing about the other one you mentioned.

I’ve used Selective. It’s a quality brand but it has wheat and soy. It has 25% fiber which is the same amount as in Oxbow pellets. I haven’t tried any of the other kinds you mention.

Here is a really good link to check out the different percentages & best quality of rabbit foods; this may have other options available to you as well!

Of the three you mentioned, the Science Selective is my personal favorite because of the percentages. However, it’s made with alfalfa, which is something to consider if you have adult rabbits.
