Hello! Last night I upgraded my bun from a dog crate condo to a multilevel pet home with twice the size. Yet she refuses to move about it. Also she grunts when I try to pick her up and she has never done so. She wont investigate even the smallest shelf. Her former cage she has been in all her life since a few weeks old. I fear she is really stressed out, what can I do to encourage her??

Is it possible to connect her cage to the new set up so she can move between the two? You could eventually phase it out, but this might help her transition.

No connecting the two isn’t possible

I honestly think you could wait and see. Give her treats in very small pieces in the new set up, place them here and there. Is there some part of the new setup that offers a hiding-opportunity? Could you put in an upside down cardboard box with “doors” cut out? Or maybe just hang a fleece blank is over a part of the unit, just so she has a “safe place” to start her explorations from?

I think this might be a wait and see case.

When we take Mr Roger to stay in other places he reacts the same way.

We also changed his cage set up (to give the appearance of taking up less room) and he was very unhappy about it at first. But he’s come around now.

Also @ Bam, about her feeling safe, on the top floors of the unit there is a hidey igloo she has had for almost a year. She has only used the igloo a handful of times right after she got spayed. Yet whenever I place her on the top level she runs to the igloo! I really think she is afraid of this giant change. I had her old cage completely lined with carpet,so I did so last night to this new one and she atleast began climbming down the ramp to outside the cage and up the lowest level!! Slowly but surely I think she will get the hang of it. Going to try bribing her with bananas

It sounds like she’s making progress! I think she’ll love the place once she gets more familiar with it. It looks like a great bunny condo.
