I decided Monty should be rehomed a month ago, and while he has only been gone a few weeks , I wasn’t looking to add a baby to the family but I found a litter that was due July 7th … A red bred to a tricolor. Mini Lops. These babies will not be ready for two months. In fact they don’t even have fur yet. In two months Tenzin will have been neutered almost 2 months ( his neuter is tomorrow) and he will have been an only bun for 2 1/2 months. Its faster than I was thinking. I was thinking a 3-4 month window. But this time I really don’t feel like I am rushing. I learned I can’t do long haired unsocialized rabbits. But a Mini lop should be a lot like Tenzin even though I expect the personalities to be different. I wanted to see the litter before I committed and I haven’t yet, but it looks like I will most likely be getting one of these 7 babies.

I am just awful at keeping secrets lol. I have nothing to be afraid of or hide though. I will have the check up and neuter money before the baby even comes home, the pen is all set up. Tenzin is a very receptive bun, I know my allergies can handle the short furred buns, this rabbit will have been handled daily, and exposed to dogs. All things I need for them to be successful in my home.

If anyone wants I can share pics once the babies get their fur. Its already been rocky for them, Their mother is being forced to feed them.

They were born the 6th, a day before they were due. So come September 6th I will have something to look forward to, Usually its a hard week for me. My sister passed 10 years ago and was buried on september 2nd, which would have been her 5th birthday.

That’s nice that you’ll have a more positive event around that time. September seems ages away though! I don’t think I could be that patient. :p

While I love looking at baby buns, I’m not sure if you can share those pics of the forum here. You’d have to look over the rules & guideline to see.

I thought I could since I am not their breeder its just update and progress photos no different than I would do with my older bun.

I don’t advocate buying rabbits or breeding them. I still support rescuing and will always recommend that first. I will also not be giving info on where the litter is etc.

Btw being patient isn’t so hard when you know its the best for the pet you currently have. Yes I could adopt a random bunny today if I want. But I wanted the time to wait. Its the best for my Tenzin, to let his hormones come down, to work even more on our bond.

Plus I am allowed one more rabbit, if I have one reserved I HAVE to wait those two months there is no option to be impulsive. But that’s not why i chose what I did.

I *think* you can show pics of the one you’re getting. I’m really not sure…

The baby pic rule came in a few years ago after there were 3 members with accidental litters at same time. So there were LOTS of baby pictures been shared. They were popular threads!
The sites owner was concerned people doing internet searches for baby rabbits would be led to Binky Bunny and that it would looked like promotion of breeding.

ETA: you could put them in your profile albums. Then BB members that are logged on could view them there.

Oh, I wouldn’t even have pictures that often. If its an issue I won’t share. Not too concerned.

My profile is pretty broken I can’t make an album.

                    Here are the rules:

***D-1 Baby bunny photos are allowed under these circumstances:

                    1. This is your own baby bunny that are already have or are planning to buy/adopt/acquire. Avoid posting photos of babies under 8 weeks of age.

                    2. Accidental Litters – You may only post pictures of the rabbit that you are certain you will keep. Bunny must be at least 8 weeks of age in photos, and the image cannot contain any other rabbits that you are not keeping.

While we understand that accidental litters do happen, these photo threads can distract from our main focus of helping members care for their bunnies. Therefore, we ask that if you want to show off the bunny you intend to keep, that you contain your photos and updates to a single thread in the Lounge. This enables us stay focused on what is most important to our forum and meet the needs of our members.
                    3. You are foster, volunteer, or work for a certified rescue/shelter. Post in the Rescue Section only and provide the shelter name & link to the shelter in your first post. Keep updates to a single thread.

I guess I will keep pictures to myself until we bring the baby home. Assuming one is a male. I will of course be bringing it home at 8 weeks.

Oh no! That’s really sad. I’m sorry.

Unfortunately none of the babies made it. I am still going to casually look for rabbits. But I am in no rush, poor baby rabbits.
