So, I’ve had Meeko now for maybe three months? I forget but she’s 13 weeks now, 14 Tomorrow and she is amazing. My dog does well with her EXCEPT when Meeko tries to climb on the dog. If she’s just perched her front paws on her, the dog growls only. If Meeko hops on the dog (meeko is friendly to everyone, kittens, mama cats, my dog, just not other strange humans lol) my dog growls and snaps, just like she does if another dog irritates her. Meeko was not injured in the one time this incident happened, she was scared but seemed to have forgotten.. How can I fix this ?

My dog dog the exact same thing with Olive! I just watched them very closely for a while and made sure the dog knew that was completely unacceptable ( I think it happened twice and my dog got in huge trouble). After that the problem pretty much went away.
So I’m not much help… But I would say just keep an eye on them and give it time!

That’s something I have to watch with my two, though I’d say it’s like Oliver…he knows he’d be in huge trouble. However, when the dog is startled, he reacts before thinking, so I’d be careful of this, especially if the dog is really big. My dog isn’t much bigger than my Gus ha ha I don’t really know how/if you can fix it. I think it’s a knee-jerk reaction for the dogs to snap at something when it startles them, but hearing that your dog growls, it sounds like he is a definite danger to your bun. However, short of keeping them in separate rooms when the bun is out, I don’t have ideas for you. But it just worries me because the dog sounds like he really means business

I wanted to add something that I totally forgot about. Right in the beginning, I kept Bill ( the dog) on a leash every time he was around Oliver. That way I could quickly control him if needed and he felt like he was being monitored more.
But now Olive climbs all over him and licks his face like crazy. Bill just takes it

Ellie is totally fine around the rabbit usually. But lately she’s been more snippy, but silly Meeko doesn’t understand, because she keeps going by her and following her around the house lol. I’ll just have to watch them like I have been.

My bunny is 10 months old and I got her when she was about 3 months- I have 3 dogs, 1 medium sized(48 pounds and a hunting dog!!) and 2 teacup pups that are 3 years old.
I has taken me a few months to get all of them used to eachother. I thought I would never be able to get my 48 pound hunting dog even keen to getting to know the bunny- but they both are inseperable!
My 2 teacups ones do the same thing when Matilda hops on either one of them- Both my dogs get snippy too but you just have to constantly keep an eye out. My rabbit is a bratty teenager now and she snips back at them- she has learned from them
Rabbits are very fast, they can jump high, and if their nails are long can hurt the dog
Our dogs mean well but in the end they are still a dog and a rabbit and anything can happen
