Igloo has developed another bothersome habit of digging out his food bowl during the day. Much like wiggling behind his litter pan to pee, he only does it when I’m not in the room (maybe he senses mama is always watching haha!). His food bowl isn’t that deep, maybe half an inch, and he seems to do it regardless of the actual level of food in the bowl. Does anyone else’s bun do this? How’d you get him to stop? Or is it just a quirk I’ll learn to live with? I doesn’t bother me that much, but it does add some time to clean up.

I would say just normal bunny boredom. I have one of these to prevent Porky from dumping his pellets where he can’t get to them.

Not necessarily this brand, I got it years ago at a local store.

It certainly sounds like bunny boredom. Other than securing the bowl, does he have branches and twigs (apple, willow) to chew, a (plain) cardboard box to remodel? Things like that could perhaps divert his attention from the food-bowl.

I have one of those, too. They’re great! I’m actually getting another for a water bowl. You can find them on Leith Petwerks.

What material is your bowl made out of? My back-up bowl is ceramic, and though my rabbit moves his around a lot, he hasn’t tipped it over.

Eepsters food bowl is useful also to keep the little monsters from tipping their food bowl over. Aeryn and Tegan do that all the time when they’re given their food pellets outside their cage. They have plenty of toys, so we suspect they’re doing it just to piss us off. We would gather up the spilled pellets and put them back in the bowl, then they’d hop up to it and tip it over.

Other toys that help include empty toilet paper rolls. Some bunnies also like ripping and chewing up newspaper, which generally now uses (nontoxic) soy-based ink.
