I had 2 bunnies. they both were healthy and good but suddenly one of them got sick and within 2 days he died.
I am not able to understand what happened to him. Let me explain and if any body can get the cause please reply to this post….
        1) At day one he started behaving a bit lethargic as compared to his daily activities. Though he was eating properly.
        2) In next day morning he ate properly but his movement was quite low. but he did not had any problem while moving and his legs were fine.
        3) In the evening same day he stopped eating. So i took him to a vet.
        4) Vet checked him and his temperature was fine and he gave him an injection and told me this is to increase his appetite.
        5) but soon after the injection his movement stopped. He was behaving as if he got paralyzed. Though all legs had the sensation He was lying like paralyzed and even was not able to get up and sit properly.
        6) Also he stopped eating. After lot of tries he licked the food but did not eat anything.
        7) His ears were cold and I consulted the vet again. He took the temperature again and it was 98.5 which was quite low. He suggested me to keep him warm with blower or any other method.
        8) I did all the thing but nothing got better.
        7) He has been like paralyzed (he tried to get up so many time by throwing his all 4 legs but couldnt get success) throughout the night and in next day morning he died.
I dont know what was the cause . His litters, temperature(initially) were fine but he died.
Please let me know if anybody can get any thing from this so that i can save my other bunny if this happens to him.

I’m so sorry about your rabbit. It is difficult to know what the cause would be – if it has only been 24 hours after the death, you can have the vet do a necropsy and that may indicate what the cause was – it’s not always definitive but sometimes it can help.

Those symptoms can just be due to so many things that all any of us can do is speculate.

It sounds like you tried very hard to save him and you did your best by taking him to the vet.

I agree with Sarita. It could be so many things from Floppy Bunny Syndrome to some kind of toxin. It could even be a genetic disorder. It’s so hard to tell when they are taken so quickly.
I can only suggest checking your bunnies area for anything toxic he may have gotten into, if they are outside are there likely to be wild animals like deer nearby that may carry tics, has he been sick previously?

I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing further to add than what’s already been said… But i just really feel for you. You did everything you could, you acted quickly. Keep an eye on your surviving bunny.
