Oh my word! Our bunny is shedding like crazy.  He isn’t a especially long haired.  We keep in inside all the time in the air conditioning (our house is set at 70 or lower).  We also provide him with a frozen water bottle to lay near, a piece of tile, and most afternoons I will wet his ears to keep him cold.  Even if I brush him daily He still sheds a ton!   He doesn’t have any patches of missing hair or flaking.  He is an altered male rabbit. Any ideas on what I can do?  We have hair balls EVERYWHERE.    I’ve included a picture.  This is two days worth of shedding.

Yup. Rabbits shed something like every 3 months…or is it 3x/year?? Anyway, fur is everywhere while they are shedding and you will likely want to try and find a comb or brush that works for you bun to keep ahead of some of the fur so he doesn’t swallow any more than necessary, causing health issues

He has probably been shedding like this for a month+

Spring shed is normally the worst. Last year, Marlee started a heavy shed mid-April and “finished” mid-June, then started another milder shed mid-July. Ugh! All three of mine are shedding heavy right now with Marlee being the worst of the three. She’s my fluffiest anyway, but yes its crazy!

All you can do is groom daily during sheds and learn to love living with bunny fluff!

As long as it continues with no bald patches or flaking… I think you’re just looking at the heavy shed JR discussed. Does seem to me I’ve seen it go for weeks

Does your short haired bun shed his/her ears too? Bun Bun is shedding on his face especially but the rest of his body too and his ears?!

{Alli} My bun is going through a big molt now and shedding from ears too. I pull the loose fur away on his ears and the new fur is already there. I haven’t seen him have a big molt in a while.

Yup, during a molt (and some molts seem to last forever) they can shed out an incredible amount of hair.

<<< Won't notice shedding because her short haired dogs shed more fur than a bloody husky.
