I’ve read that bunnies can have radish leaves. That’s great because my garden is currently flourishing with radishes! But I went to pick some and they are just so spiny; the pokiness caught me off guard. Anyone know about radish leaves? Is this spiny-ness normal and safe for buns?

My bunnies refuse to have anything to do with radish leaves. How do you mean spiny? Do you have a pic?

You can’t really “see” the spiny-ness. I mean its not like a thorn or anything, more of an overall texture where if you run your hand down it in a certain direction the leaf will poke you. I kept thinking it would hurt their little moufs!

Maybe “rough” is a better way to describe them; kind of rough all over.

Oh, I see, some types are like that. Very coarse, like. I have used them in people-sallads, in fine shreds but as I said, my bunnies are genuinely unimpressed by all types of radish leaves. It’s a pity because I grow lots of radishes.

I don’t think their mouths would suffer though. I give mine elm-leaves, they’re very coarse. They eat those. I think they just hate radish leaves. They also hate raspberry-leaves, but willingly gobble down bramble leaves, and those have actual thorns.

My strategy is feed it till they eat it….it’s worked with mint! ha! Ok I’ll try it and not worry about their mouths. Thanks bam!
