How come none of the bunny “how-to” websites mention poop wars as part of  the bonding process, or territorial pooping or anything of that matter.

Is that because poop wars are a given or a rare?

We almost got a second bunny without knowing about the poop wars.I still want to get goose a friend but I know my husband will kick a second bunny to the curb if we end up with a full blown poop war.

This is the precise reason I will be waiting a long time before getting a second. Through my research, it seems poops wars are a common occurrence, not a rarity. The severity of the poop wars may depend and may be subjective (a rabbit who is 80% litter trained going to 50% is vastly different than a 100% litter trained rabbit). At the moment Lilith is fantastic with the litter box, and I do not think my parents would care for the poop wars.

Also, the poop wars may even last AFTER they are bonded. They seem to decrease, but may persist a good while after bonding.

P.s. this is just through my research and reading other posts. People with actual bonded pairs will hopefully respond after me to either explain further or completely contradict me haha .

We had a “mini” poop war when we babysat someone else rabbit and our rabbit got loose in the room they were in.  It was a mess.  We spent a lot of money to clean the carpets.  It was horrible.  I can’t imagine living through that everyday.  Our rabbit is like 95% litter trained as long as you aren’t making him do anything he doesn’t want to do lol!

I also had a poop war going on, although it was not that bad. It only lasted about two weeks and it was just in certain “favorite” areas that they both kept trying to claim. Luckily, it was not a poop war all over the house lol. My girl still doesn’t have the best litter box habits in the “bunny room” but now most of the time when I find a stray poop it is because it hopped out along with them when they jumped out of the litter box. All in all, my poop war wouldn’t deter me from getting a new addition although I will bet that it just depends on the bun (like everything else).
