I cannot open my door for very long and cannot open my windows at all, its because some kind person in the area has dumped old clothes, bags of rotten food and other stuff in my garden, I went out and saw the back gate open and saw it all over my garden,, when I was in the kitchen I opened the window and a big rat tried to get in and there were other rats stood on the bins, the housing say it will be 2 weeks before they come because its not an emergency because they are not inside my place, anyone any idea as to keep it out of the apartment? I cannot think who has done this, I don’t want rats sneaking in and getting in Olly’s cage, I know they are crafty.

There is no way you could tell them you think they could have possibly gotten in?

Rats are incredibly intelligent and the wild rats are highly aggressive ( This coming from a former rat owner and aggressive foster … Even I wouldn’t go near one) They will probably just stay out there as long as there is food. Once they run out though it could be a problem. One good thing is the rats probably have their own nest area and since its summer they aren’t seeking out shelter just food.

As long asOlly is inside he is fine. While this is an awful problem for you, I think it is not really suited to these forums. Call your local authorities for assistance, or search on line for sites that can help with advice that has better info. Often your local town site, a dot gov, will have good help available.

Actually several of our members have domesticated rats as pets. To prevent any discussion on the topic,I am locking this thread.
