Hi i am new to this forum, i have two bunnies, one male lion head who is disabled due to an inner ear infection from several years ago, named africa, and a new baby mini lop girl named dusty.

yesterday i took the baby to the vet because shes been sneezing and i wanted to know when she can be spayed, the vet said she doesnt appear to be sick cause her nose is not running at all and she is acting fine eating fine is a healthy weight. But mostly at night when shes in her cage she has these fits where she starts sneezing like crazy. my other rabbit had an upper respitory infection years ago and it didnt look the same as what shes doing, he had a horribly runny nose he didnt eat and i had to force feed him his face and paws were crusty, she just has fits, my dog hes a shihtzu gets the same thing sometimes where he sneezes so hard and so many times that he actually hits his face on the floor, but my question is if it allergies what do i do? I think its the hay cause everytime she wakes me up and i look at her shes has her face in the hay when she has a sneeze fit, how can i tell if the hay is good? I live in New york city so there is only pet stores to get hay from, what is the best brand? and what do i do if she is allergic to all hay? and is there any way to help her with her sneeze fits? shes going back to the vet on monday for her spay, the vet said she perfectly healthy but i feel so bad when she has a fit, i am allergic to hay too so i cant tell the difference of how it smells. Or could she be having seasonal allergies like me and my dog, im sorry for all the questions im just so worried about her. She is about 4 months old, i use care fresh bedding and shes eating oxbow young rabbit food, the hay i currently have is kaytee timothy hay.

        thank you, gabrielle

According to the New York House Rabbit Society Catnip and Carrots (vet) sells several types of hay:

Also I would take a look at their recommended vets:

Could it be small particles from the hay that she’s reacting to? My bf sneezes like a mad person when there’s lots of pollen out, he’s been tested for allergies but it was negative. It’s just his nostrils get irritated by the small particles. Sometimes hay is dusty esp at the bottom of the bag. I’ve had hay that has made my buns sneeze.

I took out all the carefresh bedding from her cage and my other rabbits cage and she has not been sneezing, so it was the carefresh bedding I didn’t even think that could be the issue cause everyone is always recommending it, but it was bothering everyone and every pet in the house

That’s great! Very clever of you to figure it out!
