I have very bad anxiety and this happens every time I have to go to the vet. But other than spays and neuters I feel like this is the first time I have a reason to actually be nervous about a standard visit. The boys are just going in for their intake. The vet just wants to weigh them and look them over and establish them as patients before the neuters.

Problem is my boys are not what one would call tame. Sure they arent scared of people. But tenzin runs if you try to touch him and Monty goes into a fearful lying down position. I am so afraid the boys will dart right off the table and be hurt.

also a teeny bit nervous about funds but thats not too concerning. Neuters are not a HUGE priority they would just be nice to get sooner than later. Just bad timing over here, dog is due for shots and I wasn’t expecting to have to do a fecal.

You would be surprised by how many terror bunnies magically become “perfect little angels” at the vet. Not that your bunnies are terrors, but you may be surprised by the change in their demeanor once they are there. The vet always looks at me like I’m insane when I tell them I can’t get medicine into Wooly’s mouth. You wouldn’t think such a small bunny could be so strong. But the vet only sees the “at the vet Wooly”, she has no clue how he is at home where he is comfortable.

I am most worried about Tenzin … He goes into Terrified prey mode if you so much as try to pick him up.

I know we can handle Monty but I have the claw marks across my chest to prove that when scared he is strong.

I am also gonna see if they can show me how to clip their nails while I am there ( partly to just have them done lol they both need it)

My three aren’t “tame” either! The vet even refers to Marlee as “wild woman”. Just let the vet and vet techs know your concerns.
When we go to the vet, I lean on one side of the table with my arms kindof in a big circle, ready to catch a bunny just in case, and the carrier at the wall end of the table. The vet is on the other side. I help keep the bun being examined from trying to go anywhere. Kieko is probably the hardest — she is least likely to jump off the table, but the most likely to try to climb into my shirt or up onto my shoulder, and the most likely to try to fling herself toward me if I’m not right there. Our vet knows my bunnies now so we have this “system” worked out. Except for the exotics vet tech, the other vet techs know that they only check my bunnies’ weights on the floor or let me weigh them on the table, that Moshi and Kieko can be burritoed, and that Marlee will wiggle out of a burritoed towel unless her face is completely covered. Everyone there also knows that tiny Marlee has a huge thump that can be heard all the way out in the waiting room! She will growl and thump over and over until she and Moshi are both back in the carrier and ready to go home!

I am just glad we aren’t going to have to force them out of front opening carriers on top of it.

I am so nervous. Give me a cat, dog or rat any day. I can manhandle them any day lol. Other than the cat the others really don’t mind. But rabbits … Are very much like the cat.

JR – Wooly comes to me and tries to climb up my chest when we’re at the vet too. I feel so loved. LOL Leopold just becomes dead weight at the vet. He will sit there like a blob and the vet will just move him around like he’s a little doll.

You should see Wooly when the vet actually picks him up. He goes limp like a rag doll and the vet just talks baby talk to him the entire time. *sigh*

Lionel is a blob at the vet. (actually, he’s a blob everywhere ) As far as Roxi, let’s just say that it is very nice that the vet is an experienced bunny Burrito-er.
Definitely bring a large thick towel along.

Well the visit is tomorrow so if anyone is interested I can post the results and what the vet says about montys not eating much. I didn’t realize the boys were getting full exams. I was just made aware of it. I am so new to bunnies. Its actually the woman I work for who talked to the vet so I just made the appointment lol.

I told my friend the carriers were identical and she suggests decorating one. My response” nah, I would hope the vet can tell my BEW lionhead from my broken sable point Holland lop.

Just found out the woman I work for is bringing her husky along. He has no rabbit experience. He needs to be weighed for his heartworm meds. But that dog is a JERK … So hopefully he behaves or can at least be kept out of the way while the boys are examined.

                                  Good News !!

First off … She left the Husky at home lol.

                                  Second The bunnies –
The vet was not concerned about Tenzins slightly damp nose. Its most likely allergies.
I brought up that Monty does not eat or drink Nearly as much as Tenzin does but he said that his weight and body fat are great so don’t worry too much.

I am SOO use to the Q&A with the dog and cat that that may have been the most odd vet visit I have ever had.

I also got weights on my boys Tenzin 3 lbs 9 ounces, Monty 3 lbs 13 ounces.

The vet also said bring stool samples from both boys on the day of the neuters and he will do fecals for free.
