Why I spoil my Jolly Olly.

I found out why Olly is nervous, I contacted the Vet where
he used to go, because the old owner said he had a bad experience there and
thought this maybe why he won’t let me hold him, after dropping a few funny
things about animals I could hear her on her computer, of course I dropped some
funny jokes about computers, then she told me that Olly was fine nothing
happened but he was brought in too early for injections and neutering which
could be why he is nervous, there was no little break between, then said he was
brought in by his old owner because a slipper was thrown at him by someone for
sniffing a bag and he was doing what wild rabbits do, I let him do what he
wants if its safe, if he does what wild rabbits do its OK, we still do things
that cavemen did, do we get told off or something thrown at us? No, his old
owner has been charged with cruelty for things done to the other rabbit, the
Vet called the RSPCA (SPCA) when they left, it had been fed the wrong foods,
force fed for no reason and hair shaved to look like a punk, I would never
shave my Olly to look different, I know Olly went through a lot, from December till
I got him in April, which is a long time for any animal, they did tell me if he
does anything wrong to smack him, absolutely no way, like last night he chewed
my mobile phone charger up, did I shout at him? No, I called him a little
monkey but did not raise my voice or punish him in any way, he is getting some
treats from a company in the post van next week, he loves parcel day, I take it
too him and say. “Its come for you Olly, it’s for my Olly.” I open it whilst he
rubs my knee, I check everything is safe and let him climb in the box or sniff
inside the package, of course if it is a plastic bag I empty it and let him
look at things I got him, when the postman comes there is a sign asking him to
shout if there are parcels, Olly gets excited and runs from one side of his
cage to the other like ferrets and polecats do, I take the parcel in and open
his cage and he loves my knees whist I check everything is safe, then give him
the box and let him take a treat into his cage, I don’t know what else they did
to him but they are really awful people, but Olly enjoys Postman days once a fortnight,
I did ask the postman to come in and see Olly but he is scared of Rabbits, Olly
always knows I go out soon as my money is in my account and knows I have
something for him, he will tap on his cage door quietly, then I open his door and
he will come to me, love my knees and take what ever I have for him, yes I spoil
him, but he has had a bad time with those people and animals never forget.

Olly sounds like such a sweetheart! And power to you to be so patient with him during his nervous times. I think every rabbit should be spoiled.

His previous people sound awful. You sound like such a caring bun mom and he’s lucky to have you.

I’m so glad Olly got to have you for a human =) People can be so ignorant and cruel to pets, like they are toys.
I always try to spoil my rabbits =)

To be honest his old owners couldn’t look after a pet stone in a matchbox all they care about are parties and booze and more booze.
Good news, postman is going to be here before Thursday with a medium sized parcel for Olly
