4 months ago we got two bunnies from Petland and they told us they were two girls. Tiff is a Harley Quinn lop and Gimli is a lionhead with a bit of Rex. Found Gimli mounting Tiff next day. Realized Gimli was a boy and got them separate cages to avoid Tiff getting pregnant. Went to vet today. Gimli was confirmed a boy. And so was Tiff!! We had no idea. They are separated during play time as Tiff tries to attack Gimli when he mounts “him”. They will be getting fixed on the 24th of June.

Does this mean they can never be in the same pen together? Do any of you have two male rabbits that get along and live in the same pen?

Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to bunnies, and some bonds are more difficult than others and take more time. Wait until 4-6 weeks after their neuters to give their hormones time to settle down and then you can startvthe bonding process. Humping is a dominance thing and you will likely see plenty of it during bonding as they establish who is going to be head bunny. In the mean time, I would keep them separated in order to prevent potential fighting which could make bonding more difficult.

Don’t get discouraged! Right now you have two “teenage” boys with raging hormones! There are plenty of people with male bonded pairs so there’s definitely hope.

Yes like JR said, no need to get discouraged! There is no way to tell if any two buns will get along before they are “fixed.” After they are fixed and hormones have died down a lot can/will change. I wouldn’t even try bonding again until after they heal.

So….are you going to rename Tiff?? hehe

My understanding is that the temperament of the bunnies is what matters, not the genders, when it comes to bonding.
I have two boys and so far the bonding is going really well, no attempts at any real fighting, though there’s been the occasional scuffle – usually when Puck decides he’s had enough of Harry mounting him and Harry isn’t satisfied that he’s made his point for the day lol.
Don’t give up on bonding them just because your girls have turned out to be boys, as JR said, there are a few people on here who have successfully bonded boys or are in the process of bonding. Off the top of my head I’d suggest reading Nora’s thread from when she was bonding Merry and Pippin. I’m sure others could direct you to other specific threads
