Can my rabbit meet my two pet rats? She gets along with my dogs, and my rats are very sweet, but I’m not sure if they shouldn’t be around each other for any reason?

Just to be with each other for play time? It’s unnecessary but if you really wanted to, I’m sure there would be no problems regarding fights. I’m not sure if the two animals would give each other illnesses/diseases that their species is immune to. I know that this happens with rabbits and guinea pigs. Maybe someone who’s an expert on rats and rabbits would give a better answer

Yes, just during play time. Not to live together of course. My rats require at least an hour of free roam time out of their cage and I usually have a part of the basement fenced off for them during play time. It would be convenient if I could have play time with the rats at the same time as Alice is out of her pen. It would be 100% supervised time of course.

I wouldn’t want to risk them spreading illnesses to each other, but rats and rabbits don’t seem to be very closely related to each other so I’m not sure how many pathogens they would share/carry?

            Thanks for your input!

No problem! I don’t know a lot about rat diseases besides tumors and such since they get them so often so yeah haha

Rabbits and rats can both carry pasteurella. That’s the only thing I can think of that may be passed from one to the other. Hmm, I’ll have to do some research.
