Since this is kitty related, I’ll post it here.

Our fluffy kitty Luca ended up with a fly ribbon stuck to her. We got the ribbon off without too much fuss, but now she has sticky gluey stuff in her fur. We have tries cutting some of it out and we also gave her a bath. But there’s still some sticky left. Does anyone have any experience with sticky fur?

Test a little spot with some corn starch and see if it will clump and come off.

So my day got better. Second fluffy cat, Jojo, gets wrapped around one. So more cat baths. For him we used a bit of veg oil to work it out. After two baths and shampoos, the sticky and oil seem to have come out. His fur is quite glossy now.

Roberta, I may try the corn starch thing on Luca. She still has a bit of sticky left.

hey!! i can’t believe i happened to read this today, because this morning the very same thing happened to one of our barn cats!!! He was stuck in the break room at our shed for the night and was running around and managed to get the fly trap wrapped all around him!!! I wasn’t there but our hired hand caught him and took it off and when i arrived the cat looked normal except a few clumps of fur coming off and a ruined fly trap. He was still a little offended that we had so carelessly locked him up the whole night so i didnt get to catch him but he didn’t look to sticky and he wasnt wet so i don’t know how our hired hand got him cleaned up but i can tell you that its a mess when those things get caught like that!!!

The whole thing turned into a debacle. Luca cat got away with one bath, we did not use oil on her. Jojo kitty needed 3 baths because on the second bath we used oil, but did it wrong. He became an oil slick. So third bath to get the oil off. Bleh. But everyone is clean and fluffy again

Tessie, it is not fun at all! Fortunately they’re both front-declawed or else we would have to wear chainmail! Lol The entire bathroom floor was covered in soapy water and fur and we were soaked down to pur skivvies. Lol its always an ordeal. At least the cat shampoo smells nice

Poor kitty. Did he have a hard time in the bath? I recently had to give one of my cats a butt bath because for some reason he got mooshy poop on his butt. This was our adopted cat who was declawed. My son was helping hold him while I washed. He tore my son’s arm up by biting him. It was pretty bad. He looked like his arm was all scratched up but it was bites. The bath didn’t go so well.
