        Hi All,

Just joined after using your forum as a guest for other problems

My rabbits managed to break out of their run in the front room yesterday and ran riot round the flat (they are allowed all round the flat when im here, which is a good 6 hours a day and we’ve been here for a year now).

After taking them both to the vets after Loki had been dragging her foot around, it turned out shes broken all the bones in her foot when i saw the vets face i thought it was a case of shed have to be put to sleep. But the vet has said we had 2 options, splinting it and amputation if the splint doesnt work, or a surgeon to internally fix it in Kendal. It is also the worst break the vet has seen.

We went with splinting as the surgeon in Kendal as, however much i love this little girl, i can no where near find that kind of money.

I’ve brought her home after leaving her and her buddy, Lilly, at the vets (they only bonded a few weeks ago, though they are stuck together like glue i didnt want to risk separating them).

Loki is pretty worked up as you can imagine and ive already got a few issues if anyone can help me!

Shes currently freaking out whenever Lilly comes up to her and tries to run away from her. Lilly is just being friendly but Loki just doesnt want her near her, and when she runs away she drag anything that she runs over with her and gets even more work up, ive currently got her lying on the sofa and shes calming down, i dont want to split them up but does anyone have any suggestions? My plan is to try them together again in a bit once Loki has calmed down a bit.

They are both litter trained, but Loki now cant get in and out of the tray. ive put some newspaper with some litter down for her for now, but does anyone have any other suggestions?

whats the best way to get the painkillers into her? its a liquid and the vet said to syringe it to her seeing as they both share their food, but i really cant see her taking kindly to a syringe and dont want her to panic/ get even more worked up.

any suggestions on how to make her any more comfortable? feel so sorry for her right now.

Any idea on how much an amputation would cost if it got to that stage? just trying to be prepared.

Also, any experience in this would be very appreciated! shes my first rabbit

        Thanks in advance
