OK Olly has an appointment for a check up on 27th May and I cannot put him in a normal small box he does not like small spaces I found out and he is really strong so no cardboard box carrier, its only 3 minutes by car, I have borrowed a case to try but after 2 minutes he did a Harry Houdini, (Houdini did escape acts)  I have been advised he needs a dog carrier does anyone have any ideas, something I won’t find heavy to carry?

        Thanks.

I use dog carriers for my buns. they’re also much less reluctant to get in if the carrier is at least 3x their size.
Personally, I like the hard plastic ones that are two pieces (top and bottom plus a door) for many reasons. They offer a variety of ways to get you bun into them, you can take the door off and they’ll use it as a house/toy when you’re not travelling (this also gets gem used to the carrier), and if you travel, you can take the top off and use the base as a litter box so there’s less to brig with you.

My favourites have a little trap door at the top that can be opened so I can pet them in the car without them escaping.

you’re supposed to put a litter box in the bottom, but mine are all much happier with just a fleece blanket and a little bit of hay. Also be sure to give him a treat every time he goes in until he’s comfortable with it.

A cat carrier should be fine, I know he doesn’t LIKE small spaces but they are safer. If you hit the brakes he won’t have as far to go before something will stop him, no time to gain momentum. If you are having trouble getting him in or out I would recommend one with a top door as well.

Yeah. Cat would work too! I didn’t even think of that as my buns are massive and I’ve never had cats so I don’t really think about them.
I went with a toy dog one because I liked the colour better haha and my other bunnies came with a dog carrier. (Not a crate. A carrier)
Also. My one bun is quite large and wouldn’t even fit in the normal “rabbit carriers” they have at the pet store And as the other two travel together those are also not an option.
Elliriyanna makes a good point about not having too much space as they can be injured if you stop suddenly or something, but he should be able to spread out and turn around comfortably. I also make sure that the carrier itself can’t slide around when it’s in the car.
What’s best suited to you an Olly depends on his size.

OK thank you, its only a 3 minute taxi ride and 3 minutes back, he may feel safer in a normal strong plastic box with a blanket over waiting to be seen, I could go in the cat waiting room with him even though I’m allergic to cats but a small box with a bunny trying to break out is better than him running back and forth in a big box where big dogs are waiting if the cat room is full.
