I just got my bunny, he’s a 5 month old male and I got him from a friend. He is very sweet and playful and will occasionally cuddle up real close with me. I’ve noticed though, when we’re cuddling and I stop petting him for a few seconds he starts to dig into me with his front paws and then will nip at me. I’m assuming it’s because he wants attention? Or is there another reason he’d do this? How can I stop him from doing this? I don’t mind the burrowing, but obviously the biting hurts a little. I got him from a friend and she’s said he didn’t bite her. Is it maybe because he’s still getting use to me?

Sounds like he’s telling you he wasn’t ready for you to stop petting him. Have you tried squeeling (bunny lingo for “ouch!”) when he nips?

We have a nipper too. Kieko nips if we stop petting her or if we’re petting her back and she wants us to pet her head. She’ll also sneak behind us if we’re on the floor, and nip one of us on the back and binky off. Hers are just little nips so not too bad.

My Mini-Rex used to do that. If I stopped petting “dig dig bite”. Such little brats. But so loveable.
