Ok so we’ve been using the toilet system for a week now and this is the first day Harvey peed outside his box in his cage. He pulled away the food bowl and peed where the bowl would stand. I do have to admit that I woke up good two hours later than I normally would (sorry, just being a human!) so I was just wondering if that’s his way of saying that he’s angry with me.

I did bring him fresh dandelions from the meadow (first thing I did after I woke up) just to find him sitting there hesitant to come to see me. Then I noticed that puddle and felt kinda disappointed that he went outside the toilet. He looked either upset or guilty, can’t really tell as he’s never been sulky before. Well either way, I washed the sheet, gave him the dandelions, got zero bunny kisses and I’m not sure what to do now. If I let it go, will he pee outside the box regularly just to mess with me? How do I deal with this so that he doesn’t give up his toilet habbit?

Normally bunnies pee outside their usual spot to mark territory and show sexual readiness. When bunnies want to show displeasure they thump, flick their hind feet at you, or give you the cold shoulder.

Looking sulky could be a sign of illness.
